About our building

Our building is considered the oldest commercial structure in Solon. It was built in approximately 1900 by W F Trimple as a General Store. Bainbridge Rd was then known as Main St. Around WW II, the building became the Solon Canteen. It was used as a meeting place for teens and Boy Scouts, and housed a firing range in the basement until the 1950's. The building was then purchased by John English who turned it into Solon Electrical Supply , and operated it for many years.

Bill Sgro purchased the building in 1998 and restored it to it's present condition. The tin ceiling and wooden floors are all original. The store was originally called Fine Wines, until the business was bought by Dan and Scott Kennedy in 2002, who changed the name to Solon Wine and Liquor.
